Hello,

I updated to macos Monterey yesterday and I guess I guess I also my firefox updated to 102.0.1 (64-bit)... Anyway, I was very much used to have a white background in firefox's built-in pdf viewer when viewing pdfs that really have a white background (for example if you download it and check it with Adobe reader, or any reader other than the viewer built-in the browser).

Now the background color is gray, and it's not convenient for me at all. I could not find the magic setting that allow to changing this behaviour... I do not use themes, so I do not mind changing something there if needed.

Could any guru help here please ? That would be much appreciated.

Hi, I'm not sure about this, but I think the background colour is determined by the PDF file itself. I'm unable to test the file you posted an image of, but when I try my test file at https://ilias.ca/tests/MIDI_400_review.pdf the background is white. Does it display as grey to you?

Sorry for the late answer. When I tried your file, for me it is displayed in gray, see attachment.

Any suggestion on how to get rid of the gray background and have it displayed as white ?

Thanks a lot for any advice

By default Firefox uses these system colors: Canvas and CanvasText.

Related prefs for about:config:

  • pdfjs.pageColorsBackground = Canvas (#FFFFFF)
  • pdfjs.pageColorsForeground = CanvasText (#000000)
