passwords gone after firefox refresh

today I got a message that says your Firefox is slow and it suggested refreshing it,, it also said that my info won't be affected and after it started I noticed that all my saved passwords are gone!! please explain why it happened and how to resolve this issue and restore my passwords

You look for the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop to see if you can locate the logins.json and key4.db files and copy these two files to the current profile folder with Firefox closed.

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).


When you use the Firefox refresh feature then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks and history, Form Data, tabs) is automatically imported. The current Firefox profile folder will be moved to an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop. Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.

It is possible to recover data from the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

thank you so much that helped, I've done that but I was copying the files to the wrong directory,, I truly appreciate your help thank you
