This add-on will be installed when firefox is restarted
When trying to copy a profile from desktop to laptop, using same firefox version, even updating laptop's profiles.ini to point to the same named XXXXXX.default as in desktop, I get that annoying but ALWAYS and I can restart firefox a thousand times, run as administrator and do God knows what else, but extensions always come up as disabled.
You could say "Oh, just install the extensions one by one in laptop, and then just sync bookmarks and others" but to be honest, that is not what I want. I want to just copy & paste the profile folder of desktop installation to laptop and make it work seamesly.
Does this have a solution or may I turn to the dark side of the force (Chrome!! Aghhhhrhrhr...)

We do! Firefox 3.6.7 is out, so you can update: Help > Check for Updates.
You have or had an extension installed (MegaUpload toolbar) that has changed the user agent from Firefox/3.7.x to Firefox/3.0.5.
You can see the Firefox version at the top and the user agent at bottom of the "Help > About" window (Mac: Firefox > About Mozilla Firefox). You check (compare) what websites see: http://whatsmyuseragent.com/ - Whats My User Agent?
You can check the general.useragent prefs on the about:config page. You can open the about:config page via the location bar, just like you open a website. Filter: general.useragent If general.useragent prefs are bold (user set) then you can right-click that pref and choose Reset.

cor-el, thanks for the help. I'll switch the user agent string then.
But, still have the issue with the addon bug ;)
You shouldn't copy a full profile folder with installed extensions and other data that possible has absolute paths to files (secmode.db) or specific customizations (prefs.js ,localstore.rdf) Only copy what you definitely need (password, bookmarks etc.) and reinstall extensions.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox --- Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check.
cor-el, thanks so much for your time and the help.
Bummer then, as what's proposed officialy ain't no real synchronization... sucks to be that way.
Though, when you say "that possible has absolute paths to files (secmode.db) or specific customizations (prefs.js ,localstore.rdf)", if my firefox installations point to the same place, and the random number in the default profile is the same as well, wouldn't that be supposed to work seamlessly?
You're welcome
Copying a full profile might work, but is not guaranteed to work always. It is better not to do that to avoid problems like the ones I mentioned above.
cor-el, thanks so much for all your help.
It's crystal clear for me now! Glad I found some help over here, as I had been having this situation for so long! hehehe
Cheers!
