I'm getting a warning pop up that says "the page at http://platform0.twitter.com says:" then it has 15 numbers and an OK button. Some times is says "horizontal" after the message. some sites like the one listed below have 5-10 of these popups. the page never loads and the firefox menu disappears. Is this some kind of malware or virus problem?

Strange, this is a Twitter server.

In what pages does this pop-up open, really? It might be a website communicating with Twitter.

It might be an addon trying to communicate with Twitter too.

It would help if you tested this in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode
