I know that FireFox can't upload files to FTP sites, but if it can use SSL to deal with SSL encrypted pages, then it has all necessary tools to deal with secure ftp sites. So, the question is: Can I in any way tell FireFox to use "AUTH SSL" prior to sending the USER/PASS commands when dealing with secure ftp sites. Or connect to implicit FTPS ports with secure protocol? Or maybe some kind of plug-in or add-on would help?

>>You can look at FileZilla.

Thanks cor-el, but I already use FileZilla's both client and server. They flawlessly negotiate secure protocols of each other of course. And now I'm looking for any way to use some browser to allow easy access for common users to secured ftp site with installing no additional software like FTP client. Mozilla FireFox is wide spread browser and extend-able as it signed. So I thought that it support FTPS or FTPES.

I followed Your link and read this terrible thing: "Internet Explorer and Firefox don't support SSL/TLS without special plugins."

But "Tempora mutantur at soft mutamur in illis". So maybe some browser have already got such feature.

Have answered my own question by myself. Found some solution that partially solves my trouble. It's free add-on for FireFox called "FireFTP" that supports secure connections and works within the browser window. Its set of features is amazing! Very good software to donate. But it still doesn't solve links to secured ftp sites, and must be started manually and works like a separate ftp client regardless it is integrated in browser. So, it's powerful ftp client, and easy to add to client's browser with a link. But it would be a great think if FF recognize secured ftp sites without any plug-ins needed. Link for this amazing add-on: http://fireftp.mozdev.org/

I wasn't sure if FireFTP does support FTPS, so that is why I didn't mention it as a possible solution.
So thanks for reporting that FireFTP also is a possible solution.
