How do I uninstall BearShare Web Search plug-in (it's not in the add-on list) and change my home page (it's stuck on BearShare)

My son downloaded the BearShare application. I have uninstalled it, but it has made itself my firefox homepage, and added a BearShare Web Search widget to the top of my firefox window. I can't remove it with Tools/Add-ons, because it doesn't appear in the list, and when I attempt to change my home page, it doesn't take. Every time I open firefox, my McAfee application warns me that my search preferences have been changed to a less secure setting (and I change them back as suggested.)

Thank you, cor-el; that was the information I needed. I reset my homepage according to instructions in support (different method than my friend did for me before) and followed the instructions for removing the media bar and resetting the default search preference (which was not set to bearshare, but what the heck.) I restarted firefox by exiting and then reopening it - there was no option for restarting in my File drop-down menu. But it works now and I have a good homepage, and the BearShare search widget is now a McAfee secure search widget - which is fine. Thanks again.
