How to add a shortcut in Firefox to open Thunderbird E.mail program

What I need to know is how to add a shortcut link so I can open Thunderbird E.mail program while using Firefox. the same as you can open Outlook Express while using MS Internet Explorer by clicking the MAIL button, In other words is there a link to the E.mail program frn within Firefox.

Install the GetMail extension to add that feature to Firefox.
