when i download something,i should be seeing it on my desktop,but after downloading,it just disappears nowhere

when i download something,it should be saved in my desktop and it should appear there,but after it was scanned for viruses,it just disappeared to nowhere really quickly,i tried to find it in my recycle bin etc but to no avail,help!

Maybe your security software is quarantining it, or even blocking or removing it.

You should be able to find the file by searching by name. Try with something small and see if that disappears eg save the image for your avatar from this forum, which should download in seconds.

Try resetting the location you are using to another location, or to always ask

  • Tools -> Options | General - Downloads

i also had this problem when i downloaded something last night. what i did was , go to the control panel then selected appearance and personalization then went to the hidden files and folders section then chose the "show hidden files and folders option". all my downloads showed up on desktop and other places. i do not know why this change happened because i didn't have this issue before. but for now i can see where things are, hopefully this glitch or whatever it is gets fixed.

Are you able to set firefox to download to a chosen location as mentioned above.

Then either go to that chosen location directly, (or on Windows systems use the ipen containing folder option on right click of the item in the download manager window)
