firefox 4 release candidate is making my display driver crash

When resuming my computer from being locked and idle, my display driver crashes as soon as i go to maximise the idle firefox window. it doesnt seem to happen again until the same situation is repeated, but it's kind of annoying when it happens.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

In Firefox 4 Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: [ ] "Use hardware acceleration when available"
