clicking the New Tab button on the right side of the last tab doesn't work

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened. The AnchorFree toolbar that you have is a version of the Ask toolbar.
