I want to install silverlight, but it ask me to install internet explorer should install it?
I'm trying to install microsoft silverlight, but once I download to file I cannot open file, When I try to get help from microsoft they ask me to download internet explorer should I download explorer, will this affect firefox? I don´t know what to do. Or does silverlight only works with internet explorer? Thank you.

There are different Silverlight plugins for IE and for Firefox.
I think some parts of Windows do not work correctly without Internet Explorer installed. If you install the current version of IE for Windows XP (IE 8), then it may take over as your default browser. No problem. The next time you start Firefox, you can return it to default browser status using:
Tools > Options > Advanced, General tab, "Check Now"
Edit: I suppose it wouldn't hurt to do a backup before installing IE8, just in case. To back up Firefox, see Backing up your information.
