In Firefox 4 why won't Microsoft Security Essentials update the virus definitions?

I upgraded to Firefox 4.0.01 and Microsoft Security Essentials was unable to update virus definitions, by uninstalling and going back to Firefox 3.6.17, I was able to get the latest virus definitions from Microsoft.

Microsoft Security Essentials shouldn't even need a web browser for doing updates.
