How do I stop "check plug in" page from launching every time I open FF?
For the past 2 days, every time I open FF, whether from an icon of from the start menu, a page launches to check plug ins. I have not changed any settings. I am running V. 3.6.1.7 on a windows XP SP3 desk top.
I am running the same version of FF on a netbook with a Windows 7 lite OS and it is not launching the "check plug in" page.
How do I stop this page from launching every time I open FF?

You should update to Java 1.6.0_26.
Try disabling or un-installing the MetaStream 3 Plugin r4 .
I have updated the Java to 6.0_26. I have disabled the Metastream3 r4 plugin (it can't be deleted) and neither action has stopped the problem.
The plug in check screen continues to launch along on top of my home page when I open Firefox.
Thank you for your response, might you have any other suggestions?
That is a bug with blocklisting plugins that has been fixed.
You can correct this issue by forcing the file blocklist.xml to update or wait until Firefox updates the file.
That update will remove the severity="0" flags in the file that cause the problem.

It seems to have gone away all by itself last evening. FF updates via a prompt and I haven't gotten one so I assume this was an automatic update??? The only thin g I can think of that I did that was different was to run the quick scans on both McAfee and MalwareBytes.
