On some LOGIN pages, Firefox does not ask to save password info. Why? Other than deleting entries, is it possible to directly edit the saved login/password file?
The prompt to remember passwords does not always appear on SOME web sites. Is there a specific reason? Can I directly edit the saved login/password file?

You cannot edit, add to, or change your saved passwords through the Passwords Manager. Some sites such as banks may prevent you from saving your passwords as a security precaution should someone get to your computer.
If you do have a user-id and a saved password stored, try double-clicking on the username to fill in the user id and often the password as well.

There is no guarantee that passwords that you add manually yourself will get filled (most likely not), but at least you can paste them from the password manager window.
