Every time I create tab groups I lose them on exit. In options/privacy, the clear history box on exit remains unchecked but still when closing FF and restarting, the tab groups are gone again. Its the same problem if I exit from the X in the top right hand corner AND also from the firefox dropdown menu

Does it work if you use "Show my windows and tabs from last time" ?

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

Make sure that Session Restore is enabled.

If you use cleanup software like CCleaner then check the settings for the Firefox application.

Thanks for that. Yes it does now work but I don't really want to restore the previous session every time I log on. I prefer to have a set home page, but when I set this up I lose the tab groups on exiting FF.

If you do not use "Show my windows and tabs from last time" then make sure that Firefox closes properly to prevent session restore from reopening a possibly crashed session.

See "Hang at exit":

See "Firefox hangs when you quit it":

Hi FF always closes properly but still the same!

I have come to the conclusion that FF8 has issues with saving tab groups, as I see no reason why you cant save a group and still set a home page! Think I'll go back to IE!
