I have attempted many of the solutions on these support forums and other support forums and none have worked. When I go into about:config and change the value of keyword.url to http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&q= it resets to http://search.conduit.co/ResultsExt.aspx?ctid=CT2786678&q= when i restart firefox.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I went into safemode, attempted to modify keyword.url and it failed to save. Deactivated all add-ons and tried again, failed. I attempted all three solutions of https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Preferences+are+not+saved and all three failed.

I did notice that after attempting all of these when firefox is closed and i open up the prefs.js file, the "keyword.url" line is missing. Does that help?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
