Firefox crashes multiple times daily
Firefox crashes multiple times a day. No obvious cause. Sometimes crashes soon after launch. Sometimes crashes randomly (i.e. no human interaction at time of crash).
- I use an ATI graphics card (ATI driver issue?). I have disabled HW accel for Firefox. - Currently disabled most plugins/extensions. - Crashes in safe mode. - I looked at several dumps and they seem to point to various causes.
From today alone,

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.
Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.
To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
Try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
- Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.
You can also do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Thank you for the suggestions. 1) I reinstalled Firefox retaining profile. Crash recurred. 2) I reinstalled Firefox deleting existing profile. Now monitoring.
Hi, FF was stable for 1 day (an improvement). This is post FF reinstall which included profile deletion. Left the browser open during the day and when I came home found it had crashed.

Is FF prone to crashing if the # of open tabs exceeds a certain amount?
Thank you!
