Can't open Yahoo email with Firefox, it works with Chrome...how to fix this?
Since last Friday, I have not been able to access my Yahoo email account using Firefox. I am able to access it with IE and Chrome, but with Firefox I get the message Bad Request Syntax and Invalid HTTP request. How can I fix this so that I can use Firefox with my email account?

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
If the page will load but looks wrong, use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Otherwise, clear Firefox's cache using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first)
In a new tab, type or paste about:permissions in the address bar and press Enter. After the list loads on the left side, you can enter yahoo in the search box above the list to narrow down to Yahoo's various servers. Check each one and click the Remove Cookies button if it is enabled (not all of them set cookies).
Then try visiting Yahoo again. Does that help?

If the problem persists, could you also try Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)
Any improvement?
Thank you...had tried that but it did not help.

Thank you.
In case you use a bookmark to reach the mail page then try to navigate to the mail page starting with the site's main page or its log in page.
Hi simplemusicmaster, if all the browsers on the computer have the same problem, perhaps you have an issue with some external software or service, such as:
(1) Security software that is filtering your web traffic to remove unwanted content, such as advertising, but is blocking too much.
The recent upgrade to avast! 2014 has created issues for many users. For example: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/981455
(2) Privacy software (possibly as a component of your security software) that blocks information websites usually receive, causing them to run incorrectly.
(3) Proxy service (such as a private VPN or TOR) that modifies the routing of your connection between requests, causing Firefox to have to re-requesting the files.
Hi Jscher2000 how can i do this to bring back my system or my browsing completely functional? please guide me thru. I am using AVG and Advanced System Care is that having a problem? my internet proxy is auto detect. Until now i cant open full web page with my yahoo email. even flickr not loading properly. i already disabled the add ons. but nothing happens.
Thank you so much.
Does it work any better in a Private Browsing mode window?
Cor-el what do you mean private browsing window? or do mean safe mode browsing? Read my message so that you can understand what is the my problem. As i said i already tried all the suggestions what i read on this post.
Hoping someone will guide me and help me on this problem.
Thanks
Hi simplemusicmaster, please change Auto-Detect to No Proxy and try Yahoo! mail again.
A Private Browsing window has its own set of cookies, so by visiting in a Private Browsing window, Yahoo! will treat it as though you are visiting in a new browser. To open the window, either:
- Ctrl+Shift+p
- File menu > New Private Window
- orange Firefox button > New Private Window
I already tried New private window, no proxy..same problem my yahoo mail and login loading takes too long. Even if after 30mins login page show but the page doesnt look good or a normal yahoo login page. when i loggin same problem it takes too long again and the my yahoo mail page was only white with scattered text.
Hi simplemusicmaster, to test how Firefox runs "uncustomized" on your system, could you do a two-minute experiment?
Create a new Firefox profile
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
firefox.exe -P
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
You'll click the Create Profile button. I recommend using the default location suggested, and not clicking to choose a different folder. Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
Does Yahoo work any better?
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.
nothing happened. same problem occur. i follow as what you said.
Hi simplemusicmaster, since the new profile was not successful for you, and you have the problem in multiple browsers, I think the problem is "outside" of Firefox. I previously suggested a few possible reasons for the problem. I will also add malware. Please run some extra checks using the tools listed in this support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.
