What's the exact error message you're getting? If you would like to post a screen capture of the message, this article has tips on that: How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

If you think it would help, you could provide an address for the page and describe the steps to create the problem.

Hi Neil1979, no, you do not need to remove the Java or Flash plugins before uninstalling or reinstalling Firefox. Those install independently, and Firefox finds out that you have the plugins on your system using information the Java and Flash installers add in the Windows registry.

If you are uninstalling Firefox, please beware of the option to remove personal data, because that includes your bookmarks and there is no "undo" for removing it.
