I would like to know the name of the file and location that stores my bookmarks so that I can restore it from a backup on another hard-drive! Is this possible?
After looking through the online examples I found the profile folder in my backup on the external harddrive but I could not find the bookmark*.json file. I have spent the last year using the book mark library and folders organizing hundreds of locations I use for work and my hobbies and would hate to lose that information. I turned on the show hidden files with no luck. Is it possible to restore this info from a software back up with out restoring the entire system?

Bookmarks are stored in the places.sqlite file in the user's Profile folder, along with browsing and downloads history.
The bookmarks-yyyy-mm-dd.json files that will be found in the \bookmarkbackups\ folder in the Profile folder are backups of the user's bookmarks.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
Note that the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and later Window 7+ versions and the "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K are hidden folders.
