Some, but not all, of the emails that I receive are duplicated - why, and can I prevent this happening?

A number of received emails are duplicated and this is extremely annoying as I have to check whether or not the senders date and time (if not the content) are identical - then, if appropriate, delete one of the messages.

The most common cause of this is anti virus scanning. Disable anti virus scanning so mail can actually flow instead of what is happening now.
