The tab key no longer works as before. It doesn't indent properly.

When signing an email, I cannot 'tab' towards the right. The cursor goes to the bottom of the screen in "send" and the other boxes. Another problem is I could not insert a name among others listed; again the cursor goes to the bottom of the screen. For some reason, I suddenly have a large task bar on my emails when I compose--didn't have that before (I don't think). It worked fine a few days ago. When printing a composed email, it just copies what is on the screen, not the entire page. Please help.

The Tab key has always worked that way and will cycle through all elements that can have focus.

There is this extension that should make it possible to insert a tab character.

I haven't tested if the extension still works.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Another thing you can do is to create your message in Word whith the tabs. After you are done, copy it to the Firefox window.
