Can't get email from Verizon using TB

more options

I'm sure it's come up before...

I'm on Windows 7

I just downloaded Thunderbird 31.4.0. Had been using Eudora, to TB imported everything from there. The reason I stopped using Eudora was I could no longer get any mail from Verizon, and the 'help' wasn't helpful.

Now I'm on TB. I can't get email from Verizon. I tried using port 995, 990 and 465 in addition to the default 110 for the pop server. Nothing.

Chosen solution

Verizon are using SSL Version 3. It is a broken protocol that has been withdrawn from Thunderbird.

Ask Verizon when they will offer accounts with no encryption or ones using TLS.

I have this problem too with Thunderbird 31.6.0. I cannot send or receive emails, even though I set up the incoming and outgoing servers like Verizon said I should. My email was working fine until I followed their directions. What a terrible situation Verizon has created. Shame on them!!! I would like to punish them for their incompetence.
