I have Firefox 40 and am on the beta channel - why do I get messages saying my browser is not up to date?

I have been on the beta channel for ages and have noted this problem for some time. Many websites pick up that my browser is not up to date, as the Mozilla site did prior to asking this question, yet when I check for updates the answer is always that the browser is up to date.

hi larssonswood, this is caused by the masking agent extension that you have installed.

Disable or remove Add-ons
