I certainly see nothing listed https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/extensions/chat/?sort=users

But I think you have to be aware. what is transmitted is :) for a smiley, not a picture. if the [person on the other end is using a chat client that does not support converting these text strings into icons upon receipt they will see :)
