Stop history suggestions appearing below back arrow!!!!
This has driven me crazy!
When I click on Firefox back arrow button (or whatever it's called) many history suggestions/results appear as a sort of drop down just below the back arrow button.
To put it simply- I DO NOT want to see them anymore.
For heaven's sake, don't reply saying, "delete your history".
If you're familiar with solving this problem I'd like to hear from you. Otherwise, don't reply.

Hi, you might want to try this, hope it helps?

It didn't.
I don't want to delete the history.
Normally you only see that list if you right-click the Back button. Someone else mentioned yesterday that for them left-clicking the Back button now behaved like right-clicking the Back button. I'm not sure the cause was identified yet (I didn't follow the thread).
Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).
Any improvement?
By the way, as a temporary workaround, you can right-click a blank area of the page and use the back arrow on the context menu.
And here's the similar thread: When I press back or forward button, the list of sites visited appears. Whats the problem?

In safe mode there are no more history suggestions. However, I lose much more than I gain using safe mode.

Okay, but we learned something from the exercise. Most likely one of your extensions is causing the problem.
Do you want to post a list of what you're using?
You can copy/paste from the support information page as follows. Either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
Scroll down to the Extensions heading, then select the heading and the entire following table and copy (e.g., Ctrl+c or right-click > Copy).
Then click in a reply here and paste (e.g., Ctrl+v or right-click > Paste). It will look messy but don't worry, we're used to it.
If you prefer to experiment first before posting a list:
You can disable nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then review the list on the right and if you don't plan to use it in the next 24 hours, or if you forgot what it's for, disable it.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that help?
Solved.....I think.
I got rid of some add-on that had something to do with getting rid of recent history.
As soon as this answer gets posted the problem will more than likely come back. That's the way computers are.
Hi, thats good to know, if it did work, can you post here which addon it was that was conflicting? That would help others a lot. :)
No idea what it was.
In the other thread there were two with a similar name, so maybe one of these:
- Clear History
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/clear-history/ - Clear Recent History... +
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/clear-recent-history/
