A couple of days ago I got 2 or 3 popstate.dat folders in each of my email accounts. This morning I now have 34 popstate folders in each of my accounts. How do I get rid of them? How do I make sure they do not come back?

What anti virus are you using? I guess it is probably the cause of this.

I went to the hard drive yesterday and deleted 240 popstate folders and so far this morning no popstate folders show in my accounts. Really strange that after two years of using Thunderbird that this shows up after TB loaded a new version.

POPstate.dat is read and written every time the server is contacted. If the file is locked ny the anti virus a new one is created. that you have hundreds indicates your anti virus needs to have it's wings clipped. The multiple copies will mean that any leave on server type settings are not being applied correctly.

That thy appear in the user interface as mails is a bug I would say, but one that probably should not be fixed as it prompts you that there is an issue.

Second day with no popstate folders appearing. If it was the anti virus hopefully it has fixed itself.
