how to connect to mail by ip - openwebmail on linux server
I provide IT support to a company. Ten years ago (or so) I set up Openwebmail on a linux server for them. Mail is accessed using a web browser (usually chrome) by IP - [IP address]/cgi-bin/openwebmail/openwebmail.pl This works internally 10.0.0.11/cgi-bin/openwebmail/openwebmail.pl and externally with their fixed ip address. They have now decided to move to gmail. I recall I moved another customer four or five years ago using thunderbird but I don't seem to be able to do it now. There isn't a domain name I can use, I am trying to use the above url without success. There are 10 users, I intend moving one at a time, so I have a username, but what server address should I use?

Please explain: you're using gmail but don't know of a server address? This can't be vanilla gmail? How does this tie in with your openwebmail then?
Hi It is plain vanilla gmail I am migrating to. I have created the gmail account in thunderbird. The problem is that I can't connect to the mail on the linux server. The linux mail client is openwebmail, underneath it is fetchmail/sendmail. I need to find a way to access the mail (36Gb between 10 users) in order to transfer it to the new gmail accounts.
jut insert the IP address into the relevant server name fields when creating the account. But the linux mail server MUST support IMAP or POP.
