Every time I delete history, I also loose passwords, which I have a master password on to protect and don't expect to be affecting by deleting browsing history. I am just trying to figure out how to delete the browsing history without affecting the passwords I have saved.

How are you deleting the history?

You can remove history in the history sidebar (Ctrl+H) and in the History Manager (Library). In the sidebar you can click to the left of the website's icon to prevent Firefox opening the link in a tab.
