I wanted to get bookmarks, but the tool buttons next to my address bar had vanished. A couple of minutes later, they were back.

How can I keep them? How can I restore them if they disappear again?

Thunderbird is an email client. It neither has an address bar nor bookmarks.

I am 73 and I make mistakes; this was one of them. I should have written Firebird.

Moved to the Firefox support forum.

You can go to the "3-bar" menu button in Firefox --> Customize. In the Customize palette to the left, you will see a button that says "Restore defaults" in the lower right corner. That'll reset your Firefox toolbar to its default view. Anything that is missing can be re-added by dragging it from the palette to the toolbar.

Thank you for your reply. I followed your instructions, but I did not see anything which looked like a pallet.. Or "Restore defaults", which I'm not sure I want to do. I have customised Ff over the years, and now, with a badly degraded memory, I doubt if I could reconstruct them. I am using W7.
