Firefox remains on task bar along with any webpage I try and open, won't maximize.

I've reloaded Firefox about 4 times now, still heads to task bar and won't maximize. You can see the pages when you put your cursor over the Firefox icon on the task bar but will not open or close page, I have to go to task manager to close.

updated may 15, 2017, problem solved, see below.

Thank you for trying but I found the answer on youtube. If you hit the windows key + P , then select PC Screen Only, it corrects the problem. I hated using the edge, so nice to be back with firefox, feels like home

It sounds like the Firefox window is opening outside the viewing area of your monitor.

The easiest thing to do is; Right-click the Firefox icon and select Open New Window. Once the new window is open, close the original window. Then, after about 5 seconds, close Firefox.

or you can;

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/changes-toolbars-and-window-sizes-are-not-saved You may have corrupt xulstore.json or Localstore.rdf file.

Close Firefox. Open your file browser to this hidden location:

  • Mac: *~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles
  • Linux: *~/.mozilla/firefox/Profiles
  • Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
  • *C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Search for the above files. Then rename or delete them. Restart Firefox.
