Hi, I setup Thunderbird as local backup to my gmail account. It succeeded to download 24k emails since May'2010 until today, but it doesn't download emails older than that (since 2004 to May'2010). Any hint about that? is that gmail don't giving access to those emails (I can see them on the web browser) or it a Thunderbird config issue?

Thanks!

You might be able to use Google Takeout to download all the mail, including pre-2010, in mbox format, which can be imported to TB with ImportExportTools.

You may be reaching the daily limit imposed on gmail accounts. See the section 'Bandwidth Limit' and also this article.

Although the response above didn't solve the issue, it directed me to find out that gmail allows to retrieve emails by POP3 only since May 2010:

1. Status: POP is enabled for all mail that has arrived since 5/11/10.

so not much to do. I'll try by IMAP.

Thanks

Great! I wasn't aware of google takeout. I already requested to pack all in an archive for download. Haven't got the download link yet but I believe this is precisely what I needed.

Thanks a lot!
