uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.4 with a Full Version Installer

The form controls on this site are as basic as they can be, so I don't know where that . is coming from. Are you using a standard boring keyboard or something with unusual extras, or a virtual (on-screen) keyboard?
Occasionally users have an extra layer of security software called an anti-keylogger or something similar. Those can send unexpected keys to Firefox, but if this is the only problem you notice, it's probably not one of those.
If you glance at the number pad on a keyboard with a number pad on the right side, you may notice that the Del key also is a . key if it is shifted. If you've been using that Del key, try using Backspace or another Delete key (it varies by keyboard).
