The password is correct as I can send and receive emails, but for some reason when I setup a filter to forward emails based upon keywords it asks for the password. I put the password in again (email conf sent), saved it again in the password manager, but it asked it again for the next email??? Obviously not ideal....

How many mail accounts do you have set up in Thunderbird? Are you using pop mail accounts that are setup to use a Global Inbox eg: 'Local Folders' mail account?

Check the filter. Is the filter set up in the correct account? eg: Filters for: mail account name which may be your email address.

Is the email being forwarded to another mail account which you have setup as a mail account in Thunderbird?
