recently updated to 52.9.1 32 bit. Email password no longer works. Tried changing password at ISP (att) then tried Thunderbird again. Same problem. I've had this issue in the past but changing my password at ATT then going back into Thurnderbird and trying the new password worked. Not working this time. Yes, I can log in successfully at ATT/Yahoo and get mail.

I get this error when entering password in Thunderbird - "Sending of password for user ___________________ did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded: Server error - Please try again later." I cannot send or receive with Thunderbird.

Scanning the forum I see others have had this problem in the past. Anyone know anything new on this issue? Also, is there a 64 bit version of Thunderbird? I have a 64 bit system but have 32 bit Thunderbird. Not sure if this could be part of the problem or not. Thanks in advance.

Instead of a normal password, I think ATT customers now have to create a secure mail key and use that in place of a password.

The W64 version of TB is under development but is not likely to be released in the near future, The 32-bit version should run fine on W64, and I'm not aware of any problems related to 32-bit/64-bit disparity.

Thank you sfhowes! Been banging my head on the floor all morning on this. Tried umpteen "fixes", to no avail. I did stumble across the "secure key" info just prior to your response but didn't try it until you confirmed it was most likely the issue. I appreciate your getting back to me so quickly. Yes, I got a key. Yes, it worked! Thanks again. Have a good day.
