I think this happened once before and I was able to undo it...can't seem to figure it out now! I would like to have it simply revert (those messages previously marked as unread to reappear as unread). Thank you!

Hello Salzfam,

Would you please take a look at this article :

Does that help  ?

It would be stupid for me to ask you :

In Options => Advanced panel => Display panel (Advanced tab) : Are you sure that the "Automatically mark messages as read" setting is still correct?

Cause that is in the articles you've already read ....

I will now forward this in a private message to someone who might be able to come up with a proper answer for you (keeping fingers crossed).

You could use Edit > Undo (or ctrl+Z) to undo recent actions, but it's probably to late at this point

I have this problem as well. It is clearly a specific instance of Thunderbird that has the problem. I am running Thunderbird 60.9.0 on Catalina (I just upgraded to Catalina). I have Thunderbird running on several computers. My problem is only on one MacBook that was recently upgraded to Catalina.

On this particular instance of Thunderbird, all emails are marked as read. I have synced the accounts but all emails are marked as read. On all of my other Thunderbird instances on other computers the emails are marked correctly as either read or not read.

Any ideas as to what the problem might be or how to fix it?

This is fixed in 68. Download the 68.1.2 installer here.

This solved my problem! Thanks! However, your link did not go to a download page. This is a better link... https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/68.1.2/releasenotes/
