After connecting Thunderbird Lightning 68.6.0 (64-bits) to a Synology CalDAV calendar we can edit, but 1 day later not anymore.

When we connect with a webbrowser to Synology Calendar we still can edit and after doing so it is also possible again for Lightning to edit a calendar item which was non-editable to change.

However the item was not in readonly or private mode. Does anyone have a clue where this goes wrong?

Could be a firmware issue with the NAS. Is the NAS' firmware and/or OS up-to-date? Did this issue start after updating to the latest Tbird release?

Hello Stans, and thank you for your reply, but no it's not on the NAS-side as it looks now.

As stated when we log into the NAS-account and edit in the Calendar there everything works, is editable and no problems then.

The SSL connection also looks like no issue to me and when editing in Mozilla Thunderbird you can edit the field, but it does not get saved after you choose safe and close.

Also no error message then.

I understand that there are no problems editing the calendar directly using the NAS' software. However, this does not prove that the NAS' firmware is playing nice with an external calendar editor (TB Lightning). I'm not sure if there are other CalDAV add-ons to try. I'll have a look at the add-ons repository and you could also do the same. In the past there were reports of NAS devices not playing nice with TB profiles stored on them, throwing "disk full" error messages while that was evidently not the issue. A firmware update was issued for said NAS to fix the problem. That's why I have to consider a similar scenario here, unless otherwise proven by, say, testing a different caldav client to edit the NAS calendar and see if the problem persists. If it only affects Lightning, then this is a bug that needs reporting. Perhaps there are audit logs generated by the NAS that could shed more light into what's happening behind the scenes? Also, what's the exact model # of the NAS in question?

Reading out logs for the Calendar App on the Synology DS918+ I have not found, but I started testing with another CalDAV client to see if that one gives the same or other results. That's BusyCal by the way and thanks again for thinking along with this Stans!

Beginning next week I will post again as a follow-up.

This morning my customer issued a "modification issue" from Thunderbird (Windows) and I tried to modify in Thunderbird (macOS), but things did not get saved. The "modification issue" I have further to look into. Not specified by the customer.

Then I tried BusyCal again and was able to save without any problem and after that was also able to edit that same entry with Thunderbird again.

So it looks like Thunderbird "blocks" somehow after 1 day (and I thought already about the nightly backup on the NAS, but have not a clue now how that might affect Thunderbird, but not BusyCal).

I think I'm going to try another CalDAV client, but at this point Thunderbird looks like having the edit-problems unfortunately.

May I suggest TbSync in combination with Provider for CalDAV & CardDAV

I have never used them before, but the reviews are very promising.

After installing and testing TbSync (both in TB on macOS and Windows) the problem seems to be gone, but customer is now working with the solution.

It did not resolve the problem in itself, but looks indeed like a solution to circumvent the problem.

Will wait another week to fully see this working, but I'm optimistic about it!

That's good to know. Seems like a bug report for Lightning is in order.

I have a similar problem, I'm usign Synology NAS DS918+.

Thunderbird indicate sync problems, Calendar non available and appears warning triangle near the calendar name.

On an internal network, with a caldav Synology server I have this problem with one PC. But with another PC it works fine. It seams a configuration problem. What have I to do to debug and solve it ?

If I create an event it appears on Synology caldav server app, but on thunderbird caledar I don't see any event, neither the one created by thunderbird itself.

In the Error consolle, I find 3 errors, that are often repeated :

Lightning: CalDAV: Error doing webdav sync: 405 calDavRequestHandlers . js : 407

Descrizione: calCalendarManager . js : 1025

How to debug and fix them ?

thunderbird 68.9.0 (64 bit) Windows 10

Update. I install TbSync. it recognize the calendar on Synology NAS server, and it create the caledars in Thunderbird. I have two calendar, a personal one not shared with others, and another calendar shared with other users. The personal calendar work fine. The shared calendar created with TbSync, show the warning triangle, not show the already existing event, but it can create new events that now appear on Thunderbird and Synology online calendar.

Can someone help me ?
