When i click in the search bar at the top of Firefox 78.0.2 i get a drop down list of one off search engine suggestions.

Ive tried deleting the other search engines (aside from google) in about:preferences#search

Also I've turned browser.urlbar.oneOffSearches into false

They are really annoying, any tips to get rid of them ? (Image included)

Hi zooburner, when you click in the search bar in Firefox 75+, before you type any text for Firefox to match, Firefox shows your first 8 Top Sites from the Firefox Home / new tab page.

Do you want to get rid of the current contents of this list, or get rid of this list appearing at all?

Curating the Top Sites list

You can unpin, dismiss, add, and rearrange the URLs through the Top Sites section of the new tab page. More info: Customize your Firefox New Tab page.

If you've been changing settings in Firefox 75-77 to try to avoid this feature, you may need to restore the Top Sites section to the new tab page in order to edit it: Customize your New Tab page to hide or display content.

Suppressing the automatic drop-down

There is a checkbox for this on the Options page, Privacy & Security panel, "Address Bar" section:

Does that get you to a good place?

Hi there

Thanks so much for that, I am of course kicking myself now that it was that obvious !

All sorted now, and again thanks :)
