I bought a new PC and reinstalled Thunderbird but it was an old version, moved my backup profile back over and everything was fine. I then updated to version 91 and now I am getting 25 unread messages shown always on my taskbar icon with no unread messages in any folder. Has anyone seen this and know how to fix it? It was fine with the older version.

Thank you for your reply...... Unfortunately, neither option worked BUT on a side note....... the problem seems to have fixed itself. I am not sure what happened but one second it said 25 messages and the next time I looked back, it said 1. So yea glad that it is working like it is supposed to now but still unclear as to why.

Just an couple of experimental suggestions to try and work out what is going on.

1. Select the trash/deleted folder followed by the spam/junk/bulk mail folder. Do your see mail unread there that your previously did not? IF you do, right click the folder, select properties from the menu and in the resulting window ensure "when getting new messages for this account, always check this folder" is selected.

2. Open account settings for the account, (right click the account in the folder pane and select Setting.) in server settings for the account select the advanced button and in the resulting window make sure the Show only subscribed folders is not selected.

Just to be sure, close and open Thunderbird. Do you see previously hidden folders with unread mail.
