Is it possible to rename T'bird's "Deleted" folder?

My IMAP provider uses the folder name "Deleted Items" for all deleted messages, T'bird of course uses the simple "Deleted". The result is that I end up with both "Deleted Items" & "Deleted" in my folder list, both with deleted messages  :-(

Even worse, the one click T'bird option to empty the Deleted folder doesn't work on Deleted Items. Can the Deleted folder be renamed or is there another way around this annoyance?

I looked at setting up a filter but that only works on new messages, not those in a folder. Any suggestions gratefully received!!

Hi Sounds like you have Thunderbird saving to a separate folder, and you want to save deleted items to Thunderbird only, or to the online server only. There are Thunderbird account settings that allow you to choose the location where deleted, drafts, sent and archived messages go. Have a look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configuration-options-accounts Try Server settings - What to do when I delete a message - change the folder where Thunderbird puts deleted items to the server folder. From then on when you delete it should sync the server and Thunderbird. Test a few to be sure it works as you want. See also the settings for Drafts and Sent in the article I referenced - they show examples of what the folder locations look like.

Agnes, Thank you! Worked perfectly. The suggestion from my ISP to solve this problem was so wide of the mark that it wasn't worth their time typing it! Many thanks.
