I am receiving emails OK. After restarting my computer, I can send a few emails successfully but after a while, when trying to send an email, the "Sending message" window just hangs. I then need to restart my computer before I can send emails again. This is of course, a drag. I would like an explanation/solution please

Do you have an antivirus that may be scanning outgoing emails ? or have exceeded some sending limit set by your mail provider?

Stopped all shields on Avast antivirus. Still not sending e-mail. When sending hangs, I get message "connection to outgoing server (SMTP) relay.plus.net timed out". "Try again" didn't work. My outgoing mail is shown in my server settings as "POP mail server mail.plus.net" - not SMTP which times out !

Correction: my incoming is POP and my outgoing (the one I am having trouble with) is SMTP.

I have this problem, too. Here's a solution that works for me, although I don't know why: When the sending box hangs, I click cancel, then save, then I click send again, and it sends immediately. If anyone knows why this is happening, please respond.
