I originally was able to create the home page shortcut to Piped with Chrome, but the shortcut launched Chrome, even though Firefox is my default browser?

Piped [https://piped.kavin.rocks/https://pip.../|Piped]

So I deleted the shortcut. Now, Chrome no longer even offers me the option to "Add to Home Screen" from the Piped page, but it still does for other sites. Within Chrome, It now offers me the option to open the page in Firefox, even if I make Chrome the default browser.

How can I get a shortcut to Piped on my home page that will open in Firefox?

You need to select "Install".

The website that you are using has been designed to provide an almost app like experience when viewed outside of a web browser.

Hi Paul,

That appears to only work for Firefox Focus. There is no such option For Firefox android.

If you create the shortcut, and then uninstall Firefox Focus, intending to use the shortcut to then launch Firefox android, the shortcut is removed when Firefox Focus is uninstalled.

Have you actually accomplished this in Firefox android? Can you post a screenshot of the option using Firefox android? From my experience the only thing Firefox android offers is placing a shortcut on the browsers home page.

What version number of Firefox for Android are you using on your Android device?

As per my screenshot, what happens when you tap "Add to home screen"?

When available, "Add to home screen" does what I want, by putting the shortcut on my Samsung home page.

The first image is my standard Firefox menu from the Piped website. No "Add to Homescreen". Only "Add to shortcuts"

The second image is Firefox Focus from the Piped website. Only "Add to Homescreen"

However, the third image is my standard Firefox menu from Wikipedia. Looks just like yours.

With Firefox Focus, the menu remains the same, perhaps because it doesn't save sessions/history. If I'm going to use it I'll need it to do that if possible.

What happens when you go to the Piped website?

Install?? Not exactly obvious, is it?

But I'm curious, what do you mean by"when viewed outside of a web browser"
