fails to download all messages
new mail is not being downloaded for only One account press check mail, says account being processed a bit later I see Downloading 1 of 75 go to repair folder says failed because another operation is in process. then repair says it works I get 7 Identical messages delete them and try check mail again, The account peter is being processed. Please wait until processing is complete to get messages. press check mail, again I see Downloading 1 of 75
I shutdown thunderbird and restart, same routine.
This in not some phantom, I send a test mail to that account with my phone, and I see it arrive on my phone

solved. My web and mail host did some major security upgrades and their documentation and support request responses were in error. so a gazillion screenshots later, and me fighting Gmail as my sole backup ...
and not a word from this community.
time for you guys to start using Mailing Lists. the response from my questions on the Debian debian-user list helped me solve the somewhat obvious error. (this website facility is obviously too obscure)
PS: the chosen solution feature is Broken. I clicked in THIS post and it flagged a totally of point post. PPS: I can supply the contact info for an Excellent web designer. He is rather inexpensive and I would be happy to cover the initial cost.
