On almost all websites since I updated to 3.6.0 my scrolling is jerky and it freezes for up to 10 seconds. Also typing in forms freezes or "stutters". The mouse behaves erratically by freezing. This does not happen in IE8. I'm running XP SP3 with all updates current. FF is set for autoscrolling and smooth scrolling.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

== Since 3.6.x

This can be a problem with the file sessionstore.js in the Profile Folder

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_Restore ..... Firefox stores session data every 10 seconds to make it possible to restore a crashed session. If you have (security) software that interferes with that or have many tabs open then that cause cause a delay. You can try if increasing the session store saving interval helps.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.interval

In a blog article I have analyzed this problem and offer two workarounds until the actual problem is fixed in code:

Search for:

places.sqlite (history stuff+favicons etc etc)

urlclassifier3.sqlite (google phishing url's, will be rebuild)

Must be somewhere in your profile directory...DELETE them.
