FF says an upgrade is available. After this has been done and FF restarted another window opens saying a highly important (urgent) update is nesscary, when I click the NEXT button a progress bar appears and says connecting to server but NEVER seems to connect, and no matter how long I leave it it does NOT connect. It just sits there trying to connect while I use FF.

Chosen solution

Do a clean (re-)install:

  • Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
  • Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
  • It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Cor-el. A huge thanks. I have done as you said and all my settings and bookmarks were kept after the re install. I was thinking this but was worried about bookmarks. Only time will tell if this has stopped the problem but I WILL report back here at the weekend if all is good, again, THANK YOU SIR.
