FF5 is a worse resource hog (335,544 K!) than previous versions, even with only 2 tabs open and I cleared the cache, so what can be done?
Plug-in container never goes below 28,000 K (and that's lowest). Twice it froze up looking at a page of book cover images. If I listen to Pandora while working, the plug-in container goes up to 105,000 K (and keeps rising), while FF can increase to over 361,000 K.
COMPARISON: FF5 - 2 tabs (no Pandora) - drops to @357,000 K and plugin-container eventually down to @29,000 K IE8 - 2 tabs (Pandora & Amazon) - @135,000K & @28,000K

I just downloaded the Memory Fox add-on and it helped immensely! Between the plugin container and FF5 it was using about 325,000K. Now it's down to operating at around 160,000K and will then drop the total for the 2 to about 55,000K periodically. Works for me, hope it will for you.

FF knows it makes product that causes many computers problems and it could care less to fix it. FF guzzles at least 200K on my computer - often going over 500K.
Fix your product FF. Sucks
