Flash is up to version 11 -> http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

You may have downloaded the installers, but not ran them??

I would download Flash 11 and Shockwave again, close Firefox, and run those installers

You may have a 64 bit version of Windows 7, but Firefox 7.0.1 is a 32-bit browser and needs the 32-bit version of Flash and Shockwave for Director. Also, you need to go to the Adobe website with Firefox to get the Plugin version of Flash & Shockwave, if you use IE to download those programs you'll get the ActiveX versions which are only for IE and its' clones.
