Firefox plug-in container stops working comments to FF support

Firefox 3.6.15, 4.0 and 6.0 did not work on my windows xp. After installling 8.0, messages popped up: Plug-in container has stopped working, and XP looked for solutions, which it didn't find. After hours of search, I disabled Shockwave Flash player 11-1-102-55 and the problem went away. If I re-enable this plug-in, the problem appears again in FF8.0. Would have appreciated it very much if Firefox had given me hints to this, ie. which item in the plug-in container causes the container to stop working.

All the comments on the support site relating to plug-in container stopping working were not useful, especially those saying the problem had been solved, without an indication as to what the user could do to solve this problem on his installation. Now, with FlashPlayer disabled, none of the web content using Flash player will play. A fan of Firefox, but getting to the edge of my patience.

Make sure that you allow the plugin-container process in the firewall.
