How do I escape (remove) the American Dictionary
The default dictionary is American English I want to use English English I installed the "GB" English dictionary and "about:config" *claims* that that is now the one Firefox is using but every time I type e.g. "organise" I get the squiggly red line and right-clicking shows me that it's using the "English / United States" dictionary again. Even if I tell it to use the "United Kingdom" version, it reverts the moment I deselect that particular text box.
Is there some way I can stop it doing this? (I'd be entirely happy to remove the American dictionary altogether) I know I can turn the spellchecking off altogether but that's not desirable.

Hi,
You can try to right-click and choose the UK dictionary and also move English/United Kingdom [en-gb] to the top in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Content > Choose. Options > Content
Alternatively you can also try the British English Firefox after uninstalling the current version: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html This way you would be able to use the built-in UK English dictionary.

I had to reinstall the other version but that seems have worked fine. Thanks for the help.
