A website I have worked on seems to be having an issue with the background image and banner image dissapearing...

If I have a tab open with this website, then open a new tab and later come back to the tab with the website that has this problem, the background image, and banner image have dissapeared. They will start showing back up if I scroll the page.

This does not happen in any other browser.

I have tested this on multiple machines... none of that is related to this issue. I can't rely on all other viewers of the site to do something like that, that wouldn't be a good experience. Like I said this issue only happens on firefox.

I beleive it is an issue with scaled images... I am going to re size the image and do more testing but it is similar to this firefox bug from back in 06.

Please make sure that firefox is running 17.0.1; Go to help then to "about firefox" to get the latest version. Please also test in safe mode to see if this happens.

Try the Firefox Safe Mode to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or use the Help menu item and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode" To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again. If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

I am running the latest version and it also happens in safe mode. I have already done all of that.

Unless you have just updated, the version you must be running is 17.0.1 Also have you checked Fix problems that cause images to not show ?

Thanks!

If you click on the more system details in the right panel on this page, it shows you what version I am running. But yes I am running 17.0.1

Yes I have viewed those troubleshooting steps, the image shows up just fine, but it will eventually just dissapear then re appear when scrolling.

UPDATE: I have installed firefox 6 and did some testing and the problem does not happen. Seems to be related to 17.0.1

After Firefox 6 I updated to Firefox 12 still hasn't happened.

After Firefox 12 it updated to 17.0.1 and already having the problem.

Did you try a new profile?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Like I said I have tried it on various different machines even away from home, not logged into or from a backup... same result.
